Website Introduction

Hello, reader welcome to my website where you will find three different writing projects on the topic of Nanomedicine and its Future in Cancer Treatment that I am very proud of and urge you to read. As you explore my website keep in mind the three learning outcomes in my writing that appear within my three writing projects. These three learning outcomes are as follows:

  • “Explore and analyze, in writing and reading, a variety of genres and rhetorical situations.”
    • One thing that I was definitely most excited to learn about in this course was the use of different genres and rhetorical situations and this semester did just that. The number of genres that I didn’t know existed was greater than I thought. When I found out that Newspapers were a writing genre I was very surprised. And you might be thinking that “well what else would it be” and you know what I never thought about that but that proves how restrictive writing was for me before this course and how I thought writing was always one style and there was only ONE way of writing when that was not the case. The use of rhetorical analysis and situations was also explored throughout this course as previously I had no knowledge of what rhetoric was but through this course, its usage of it is more prominent than ever before. These improvements can be seen in my Composition in Two genres tab.
  • “Locate research sources (including academic journal articles, magazine and newspaper articles) in the library’s databases or archives and on the Internet and evaluate them for credibility, accuracy, timeliness, and bias”.
    • A skill I have definitely improved on throughout this course is the ability to find and use research sources as almost every writing assignment needed research sources. My ability to analyze the credibility and accuracy of the sources has also improved greatly as the Source-Based Essay Required me to heavily break down multiple sources and that allowed me to choose which sources to include in a more heavily complex Research paper. Navigating library databases has also been made easier as I had to spend hours searching through sources and I found ways to make it easier.
  • “Practice systematic application of citation conventions.”
    • The Use of citations appears a lot throughout my writing and that is because throughout this course I have learned the importance of Citations when quoting as it allows the reader to understand where the information is coming from. Previously I have never used citations as I never found the important of it but this course taught me the proper way to use citations and now I will continue on citing my sources. This Improvement can be found in the Inquiry-Based Essay tab.

Throughout the semester my writing process has changed from a doing it all in one go type of person to doing it over time as that overall makes a better paper. Prior to this course, I believed that doing everything at once was the best way to get your ideas down on paper but when I attempted going one Idea at a time I found it easier. I got that from this semester because we had to use many sources throughout this semester which made me consider going slowly as breaking down each source was necessary to find out what to include and what not to include in my papers. I have also found that I enjoyed having multiple tabs open in order to organize my thoughts and the realization of how much making a first draft can actually help my writing process as a whole was very eye-opening.
